Boiler Anatomy

Basic Boiler Anatomy

Below is a typical Boiler Anatomy – This explains what each part does.

Boiler Anatomy redlines scaled

1) LOCKING NUT
Material:  Stainless Steel
Locking nut to secure the boiler coils inside the Boiler Housing

2) FLAT WASHER
Material: Stainless Steel
A washer used with locking nut to secure the boiler coils inside the Boiler Housing

3) BOILER SURROUND
Material:  Black Steel or Stainless Steel
Inside this cover allows Air to flow through the boiler coils between Pos 4 & 3 allowing correct combustion.
Outside of SS cover remains cool even when boiler is operating continuously

Note: Fan Motor (Pos. 29) is typical mounted to Boiler Surround.

4) INTERNAL BOILER COIL
Material:  Steel
This inside chamber, Houses the coil and channels the air flow through the coils for correct combustion

5) COIL COVER
Material:  Steel
Houses Internal Boiler Coil (Pos. 4) & sits inside the base to contain boiler flames and retains heat, along with Insulating Disk (Pos 6) & Flame Containment Ring (Pos 7)

6) INSULATING DISK
Material:  Fibre or Concrete

A flame retardant disc that sits below the coil.

7) FLAME CONTAINMENT RING
Material: Steel or Stainless Steel

Steel centraliser for internal of coil locator inside boiler

8) WATER BOILER COIL
Material: Steel or Stainless Steel

A Seemless double wound boiler coil (Available in various sizes for different flow rates)

9) INTERNAL BOILER FLUTE
Material: Steel or Stainless Steel

A very important steel part for quality combustion, Seals the boiler coils top arrangement and directs the Air flow through boilers coils

10) EXTERNAL BOILER COVER
Material: Stainless Steel

Top Boiler cover stainless steel, seals the complete boiler to atmosphere and houses the ignition assembly

11) FUEL SUPPORTING NOZZLE
Material: Stainless Steel

Diesel fuel nozzle Holder, mounts onto EXTERNAL BOILER COVER (Pos 10)

12) ATOMISATION FUEL NOZZLE WITH FILTER
Material: Bronze

Diesel Fuel nozzle & Filter  (The Nozzle is sized to boiler capacity & manufacturers design)

13) NOZZLE HOLDER
Material: Bronze

Nozzle extension threaded both ends

14) INSPECTION BOILER GLASS
Material: Glass

Viewing Glass for boiler flames while operating

15) CIRCLIP RING Material: Steel

Circlip retaining the Eye Glass

16) BOILER MOUNTING PLATE
Material: Stainless Steel

Mounting Cover that houses (Pos  12,13,14,15 & 22)

17) HT LEADS

High tension leads carry High voltage 11,000 to 20,000 volts from ignition transformer to diesel burner Igniters

18) CRIMPED CONNECTORS
Material: Brass

Connector crimped on to the High tension leads core wire to pass the HV to the electrodes

19) DOUBLE ELECTRODE COVER
Material: Rubber

Weather Protection from atmosphere and safety protection from touching

20 & 22) FUEL LINE ELBOW & FUEL LINE CONNECTOR
Material: Copper

Generally copper tube and fittings carrying diesel fuel to Nozzle for atomisation

21) FUEL LINE
Material: Copper

Generally copper tube and fittings carrying diesel fuel to Nozzle for atomisation

23) ELECTRODES

carry the High Voltage to the 2 x Electrode tips located in front of the fuel nozzle to ignite the flame

24) DIESEL FUEL SOLENOID
Available in: 12VDC , 24VAC , 240VAC

This operate the flow of diesel fuel to fuel nozzle on demand.

25) FUEL SUPPLY LINE FITTING

Connects Fuel Line (Pos21) to Diesel Fuel Pump (Pos 26)

26) DIESEL FUEL PUMP

Rotary Gear positive displacement pump with internal adjustable bypass safety relief. Setting around 110 Psi to 150 Psi

27) FUEL PUMP ADAPTOR

This adaptor can be sacrificial if diesel fuel pump is run dry

28) BURNER FAN MOTOR
Available in: 12VDC, 120V, 240V, 415V

Come in many sizes general 120 watts to 200 Watts Voltage. Generally runs at 3000RPM

29) FAN BLADE
Available in: Left or Right Rotation

Boosts air into combustion chamber driven by Burner Fan Motor (Pos 28)

Generally runs at 3000RPM

30) IGNITION TRASFORMER
Available in: 12VDC, 240VAC

Transforms voltage  to 11,000volts Dc and 20,000Vdc ignites diesel fuel through Electrodes (Pos 23)
